We are finally croupless and steroid-free in this household....and now I am sick.  Go figure.  At least I can take my medicine without running around the house and throwing a full-fledged temper tantrum, so I *know* I'll get well soon.  I'm prepar

More lengthy SAHM commentary...

Wednesday, 21 September 2005 9:32 P GMT-08
Twin has written a very thought-provoking and intelligent post about the NY Times article profiling women from Yale who are planning to shelve their careers to become stay-at-home mothers.  Of course, this can of worms = my intense need to respond.

How many more doses until we're through?

Tate's latest steroid-induced activities include:1.) Waking up at 4am for the day2.) Turing around and around as fast as he can and then walking like a drunk across the floor3.) Increasing his batting average to .350(just kidding about that last one!

Croup update

Tuesday, 20 September 2005 8:17 P GMT-08
The patient seems to be doing markedly better today.  He slept from 7 to 7 last night, only waking every three hours (as opposed to the every-hour-on-the-hour pattern he was doing a few days ago).  In fact, I think he would've slept longer if it we

Emmys recap

Monday, 19 September 2005 4:00 P GMT-08
Did anyone catch the Emmy awards show last night?  I have two things to say about it.First, I realized the *only* way to watch any awards show is with TiVO.  Fast forward through all the boring acceptance speeches and get to the good stuff! And sec

Croup therapy

Monday, 19 September 2005 3:00 P GMT-08
One of the most physically and emotionally taxing aspects of parenting must be caring for a sick child.   Tate's been nursing a cold for the better part of two weeks, which developed into a high fever, which then developed into croup!  Gah!  Poor

Our San Diego trip, in pictures.

Friday, 16 September 2005 8:17 A GMT-08
Okay, I promised pictures from our trip to San Diego, so here they are. Getting wiggly Tate to hold still for a picture proved to be an imposible task, but at least he had fun. The view from our hotel room:

15-month well baby visit

Wednesday, 14 September 2005 7:23 P GMT-08
Yesterday was Tate's 15-month well baby visit at the pediatrician (a month late).  He is 19.8 pounds, 29 1/2 inches.  (Since I'm really bad at record keeping, I thought I might try to keep track here.)  Everything looks good; he's just a little li

Creepy crawlies

Tuesday, 13 September 2005 2:59 P GMT-08
Today I found the second black widow spider in our mailbox since last week.  Nothing like having poisonous spiders living in a small, dark space where we regularly put our hands without looking first.  C-R-E-E-P-Y!!   I looked for a larger web o

San Diego

Saturday, 10 September 2005 10:52 A GMT-08
We spent Wednesday and Thursday in San Diego this week where a conference for the State Bar of California is taking place. Our trip was short, but is was *so* great to get a away, even if it was only for a night. The weather was so nice down there

Happy Anniversary

Thursday, 1 September 2005 7:27 P GMT-08
Today is my third wedding anniversary.  And how am I celebrating?  I am home alone, drinking a glass of wine and typing on the internet.  LOL!  So much for romance, eh?It's not that bad, really.  : )  Jeremy and I have yet to celebrate an anniv
